ADONnews now on The Bulletin
The Bulletin is pleased to announce that it will offer the hyperlocal advertising service ADONnews on its website from now on. Developed by the Swedish company Mobile Loyalty Holding, this is the first time the service will be used in Belgium.
We asked representative Johan Lilliehöök to explain what is innovative about ADONnews and how The Bulletin readers will benefit from the new service.
What is ADONnews exactly?
Johan Lilliehöök: We have in the last few years seen an explosion worldwide in the usage of smartphones, tablets, laptops and other mobile devices as a main communication tool. This in turn has transformed the way we all read news, search for information and how we communicate with each other. In parallel, we have seen digital advertising grow rapidly. Mobile Loyalty offers a local type of advertising service that uses the advantages of digital technology to establish direct contact between advertisers and consumers.
What’s new about that?
The service changes how local advertising is done as it offers advertisers an innovative new way to interact with The Bulletin's large audience live. With ADONnews, any advertiser can easily create a promotional ad on his or her laptop or smartphone and then publish it so it appears on The Bulletin without involving a third party in the process. The advertiser can also change the promotional ad as often as he or she likes.
ADONnews, therefore, is a tool for dynamic advertising and hyperlocal sales promotion. A local car dealer can, for example, offer second-hand cars in stock live; a travel agency can offer unsold trip packages live. An events manager can promote shows live, while a restaurant can encourage customers to visit the restaurant on calmer days with targeted promotions. Many businesses can benefit from this type of service to immediately connect with The Bulletin’s audience.
So what should The Bulletin readers expect?
In addition to the current offering, we will be able to serve our readers with more local offerings that are relevant for them. The technology is now in place, and now it’s up to local business to use this opportunity! I will personally assist The Bulletin in this project so please contact me if you are interested in learning more about the service, or for a demonstration.
But do we really need more advertising? Why not just publish news and other content of interest?
The Bulletin works with a dedicated team of journalists and media specialists to offer free news and coverage of events and issues of particular interest to the international community in Brussels and across Belgium. To finance this enterprise, The Bulletin has to rely on advertising and partnership deals. Otherwise it would not be possible for The Bulletin to continue offering quality content on its website for free.
Are you yourself an expat?
Yes. I am Swedish, but most of my professional life has been spent outside of my home country. My expat career has brought my family and me to wonderful places such as Mexico, Brazil, Spain and France, but we have always been happy to come back to Brussels, where we have lived longer than in any other place. I have enjoyed The Bulletin for many years as a reader, and I am therefore particularly pleased to work with The Bulletin’s forward-looking team to implement and launch this innovative project.
