aanvullende vakantie
I started working the previous September for a company in Belgium and a couple of days ago, they informed me that they added 13 aanvullende vakantie to my already existing 15 days of vacation. They told me that i dont have to take these days but nevertheless I will get paid for them this year but an amount will be deducted from my next year's vacation money. Can someone explain to me what does it mean and how it works?
These are additional holidays, see:
Think that is explained:
" Payment of the European holidays
An employee who takes his European holidays receives his normal pay for the holidays taken (simple pécule). There is no double holiday pay (double pécule) applicable to the European holidays.
The holiday pay (simple pécule) pertaining to additional holidays is deducted at the time of payment of next year double holiday pay (double pécule). The double holiday pay (double pécule) is paid at the time the employee takes his main holidays or when holiday pay is due as a result of the departure of the employee. "
If you took any of the additional holidays last year, the pay of these days will be deducted from the double holiday allowance of this year. If this is not enough to cover the whole amount the rest will be deducted from your double pay of next year.
.
If you take any additional holidays this year (assuming you didn't work full year last year and hence do not have the full annual holidays this year), the salary of these days will also be deducted from you double pay of next year.
