85th Tour of Belgium kicks off today in Bornem

The professional cyclists depart from Bornem, Antwerp province, today for the start of the 85th edition of the Baloise Belgium Tour. The stage race begins with a prologue for the first time since 2011, a route of 6.85 km with six turns through the streets of Bornem.

Belgian cyclist Olivier Pardini (Veranda Willems) has the honour of leading the pack at the start, departing at 12.59. The rest of the Belgians will follow, starting with Jens Debusschere in 17th place at 13.15, followed by favourite Tom Boonen (pictured) at 14.15, Greg Van Avermaet at 15.13 and Guillaume Van Keirbulck as the 157th and final cyclist to start at 15.35.

The Tour of Belgium will be broadcast live on Sporza today from 14:00 to 16:00, prior to the Giro d'Italia.
