38,000 extra places needed in Brussels schools by 2025

Schools in the Brussels-Capital region are in urgent need to extra capacity, with an 38,000 extra places expected to be needed by 2025.
The extra capacity will be needed in both Dutch- and French-speaking schools, at nursery, primary and secondary level, according to the Brussels Institute of Statistics and Analysis (Ibsa).
Secondary education is expected to see the highest increase with an additional 19,500 pupils by 2025.
An extra 12,500 students will be needed at primary level and 6,000 in kindergarten. More than 80% of the increase is expected to be in the Francophone school system.
