20 Brussels events in 2020: #5. Brussels Podcast Festival

Podcasts are rapidly gaining popularity. In the US in five years, the number of Americans over 12 who listen to at last one podcast a month has risen from 12% to 40%.

In Belgium, the numbers are rising also and there are all sorts of different themed podcasts: on food, TV series, sex, comics, opera singers, YouTube series, you name it.

The Brussels Podcast Festival is being created by podcast enthusiasts for an audience of  professionals in radio, journalists, neophytes or the just curious. It’s an inclusive festival turned towards diversity in terms of formats (short, long, fiction, documentaries), subjects, languages and origins highlighting podcast creation in both major Belgian languages as well as an international programing reflecting Brussels’ status.

The programming will concentrate on stand alone podcasts and original radio creation. Featured will be “blowout sessions” which are hour-long listening sessions is complete darkness.
