2017 culture guide presents the best of Brussels' 20,000 events

22:47 07/12/2016

A comprehensive guide to all the major events happening in Brussels next year has just been published.

The Brussels Cultural Guide - in English, French and Dutch - is published every winter by the Fondation pour les Arts and is a godsend when out-of-town guests are visiting and you need to know what's on and where.

The foundation's director, Guy de Bellefroid, said the guide aims to provide "all the most relevant and the most significant events in Brussels, the biggest exhibitions, the biggest concerts and all the shows and festivals". It is printed every year even though all the events are listed online at www.agenda.brussels

"There are so many things to do in Brussels, there are over 20,000 events per year," he said. "So finding your way through the website can be daunting. A printed book being more limited in scope is sometimes more easy to find your way around."

The book is in two parts, the first part is all the events listed chronologically from month to month. The other part is "a very full address book" colour-coded for ease, in three sections: performing arts, music and museums.

De Bellefroid adds that this is "not a guide to architecture or places, it is really focussed exclusively on what's happening and on what you can do in Brussels".

Among the events highlights for 2017 is Mixity.brussels - a series of events throughout the year that aim to celebrate Brussels' cultural diversity.

The 256-page book, priced €10, is available in good bookstores as well as at the tourist office on the Grand-Place and in the BIP Building on Place Royale. Or it can be ordered by sending an email to info@agenda.brussels
