23:44 02/07/2017

An estimated 150,000 fans came out on Sunday to watch day two of the 104th Tour de France in south-eastern Belgium.

The 203km stage from Düsseldorf to Liège, won by Marcel Kittel, passed through 10 towns in Liège province.

Police estimate that in Liège alone, 30,000 people lined the streets to see the race.

The Tour sets off again from Liège at 12.15 on Monday, passing Spa racecourse before heading towards Gouvy in Luxembourg province, then Luxembourg itself and into France.

In two years' time, the action shifts to Brussels, which has been confirmed as host city for the 2019 Tour de France Grand Départ.
