After twelve years of age, if your child does not use public transport on daily basis, what is the kind of tickets do you gets? Is it a subscription of some kind or 10x tickets or something like that?
School/student (12-24) annual pass is €50 for the first 2 kids and free for the others.
We get that.
Firstly you should get your child a personalised MOBIB card. You can load 10 tickets or a yearly student ticket onto it, depending on circumstances. You can obtain the MOBIB card online but might be easier in person at the BOOTIK shops, follow information on this link.http://www.stib-mivb.be/index.htm?l=en
Then the 10 journey tickets are 14 euro, so 1.40 each journey, whereas the yearly student ticket is 50 euro. Therefore if your child does 36 or more journeys on the STIB network in a year, the 50 euro yearly student ticket is more economical, whereas if your child does 35 journeys or less on the STIB network in a year, then the 10 journey tickets at 14 euro will be more economical. If you go for the 10 journey tickets, good idea to use GO EASY online services so you can buy more tickets, saving a trip to a physical ticket machine, also make sure you check how many tickets left - you can see how many left each time you validate the MOBIB card, with the new GO EASY online service, you might be able to see finally how many are left online.http://www.stib-mivb.be/abon_tickets.html?l=en
As J says, get the annual pass for €50. You don't even need a letter from the school, just some ID.
Thanks to all of you for detailed information. It is appreciated.
