State security investigates Breivik Belgian supporters

11:26 28/11/2012

Security services are investigating information that Anders Behring Breivik seemingly received from Belgian sympathisers before he killed 77 people in a bombing and mass shooting in Norway in 2011, Het Belang van Limburg and De Gazet van Antwerpen report. There are a few words in Dutch in Breivik’s manifesto, which could hint at a Belgian connection. He often voices his hatred towards the European Union in the 1,500-page document. “Had Breivik not been arrested after the July 22, 2011 killings, we would have in all probability feared attacks on Brussels’ European buildings,” reads a report by Belgium’s state security. Breivik also refers to the Tihange nuclear plant (pictured) in Huy, Liège province.
