Which secondary school does the kids from Ecole Communal de Stockel and the French primary school of Kraainem usually go afterwards?
There is a huge choice with a lot in Woluwe. Don Bosco is an obvious one but it is big.
But you need to talk to your current head teacher, think about what standard your kids are attaining and find a school to match their ability, find out where their friends are going, etc then shortlist a few and go visit them.
This decision is probably the most important in their life.
IF you want to have some good English input but cannot afford the BSB, Le Verseau in Wavre is French system but employs some English mother tongue teachers and has excellent record for getting kids into good UK universities.
The majority go to lycée mater dei and college don bosco.
Jean 23 is also a realistic possibility plus has the only English 13 hours a week immersion programme in Brussels.
For the less bright, crommelynck.
Ecole diabolo only get average points so best to keep to these options.
Le verseau only hqa 4/5 hours a week English, jean 23 does 3 times that but only from age 13, however no 5k fees or huge journey to school.
The only option worth avoiding is Athené Royal de Woluwe St Lambert. Anything else is fine. That probably makes the choice more difficult, as the "best" school would tend to be different for every child.
It's not unusual for kids to start off somewhere fairly academic like Mater Dei, then change schools later because they can't keep up or the options look better for them elsewhere.
You're limited with ecole communale de Stockel by the geographical points system so the academic schools St Michel, Sacre-Coeur de Lindhout, La Vierge Fidele, Dames de Marie, they will all be impossible if you live near ecole communale de Stockel or Ecole Diabolo. In any case, the academic level is the same as CDBWSL and LMD.
You're limited by average points at Ecole Diabolo, so the above named schools will also be impossible.
You could also choose l'Autre Cote de l'Ecole in Auderghem and Singelijn in Schaerbeek and get places there easily, alternative secondaires. These schools are much further away but as the only type of schools nearby, they give you good points scores if combined with ecole communale de Stockel being nearest or almost nearest communale primaire.
The professional / technical schools in WSP/WSL are Institut Don Bosco, Eddy Mercx, Providence, they are all fine for the options they offer.
Mater Dei is really tough, don't consider it unless your child scores at least 85% average on the CEB. You'll regret it if you don't listen to this piece of advice.
Thanks for all these detailed and very helpful comments. They are all appreciated.
