Prime minister reacts to NY Times article

Prime minister Elio Di Rupo, currently in New York as part of a UN mission, has reacted to last weekend’s New York Times article anticipating the break-up of Belgium, which garnered many a column inch in the Belgian press. “The government is fighting to keep the country in a spirit of solidarity. The majority of citizens want to keep the country,” he told RTL. “There is work to be done. I know there many people who say ‘it won’t work’. But personally I am fighting to keep the country together.”
