One in four divorced women on antidepressants

Fourteen percent of single divorced men and 21 percent of single divorced women show symptoms of depression, according to a study by the sociology department of the University of Gent published today in De Standaard and Het Nieuwsblad. One in four female divorcees takes antidepressants, while nearly half seek professional help. Men are more likely to turn to drink than antidepressants or sleeping pills after a divorce, the study found.
