Kraków & Auschwitz
At Expat Club we highly value remembering our common European and global history. In the past we have taken many groups to some of the most historic World War I sites on this part of the continent, including Ypres / Passchendaele, Verdun, Arras, and Vimy Ridge. For World War II we have visited Bastogne and the beaches of Normandy, and invited several times historian Martin King to present his Emmy-award winning documentary “Searching for Augusta: the Forgotten Angle of Bastogne”.
This trip will lead us to possibly the most impressive and historic war sites of all. We travel by air to Kraków in Southern Poland on Friday (date not yet certain). From there we will travel to Auschwitz, the city that will forever be linked to the concentration camp Auschwitz I (the original camp), Auschwitz II–Birkenau (a combination concentration/extermination camp), and Auschwitz III-Monowitz (a labor camp to staff an IG Farben factory), as well as 45 satellite camps.
We are working out the details of the program, but expect the following overall schedule:
Friday – early afternoon direct flight, guided tour & dinner in Krákow
Saturday – full day tour to Auschwitz with professional guides
Sunday – early afternoon direct flight (possibly indirect later afternoon flight to get more time in Krákow)
Needless to say we will put together the most optimal and most impressive program for our second day. This is a unique chance to visit Auschwitz not as a regular tourist, but as part of a serious group of international people with the best possible guides and see and learn much more than you could possibly do on your own.
We don’t know the exact dates of this trip, but it will in principle be Friday until Sunday in the late spring or early summer. Our target weekend is 8-10 June, but this may change. The fees are not known yet either, but it will be in the €550-€600 range per person (flight, hotel, transfers, entrance fees, guided tours). If you are seriously interested to join us, please pre-register now. This is for free and without obligations. Just enter your name and email address on this page. We will inform you when the trip opens up for reservations. You will be the first to be contacted and you can then reserve with a discount.
We received many requests over the past years to go to Auschwitz. Therefore we expect this trip to be fully booked.
