Michelin’s Bib Gourmand guide praises Belgian restaurants
A record number of Belgian restaurants are listed in the 2013 edition of Michelin’s Bib Gourmand Benelux restaurant guide, which was announced yesterday. The Bib Gourmand guides promote high-quality yet affordable cuisine. From trendy restaurants to small bistros, from traditional to inventive cooking, from local to foreign food, the onus is on value for money, with three-course meals (starter, mains and dessert) costing a maximum of €36. This fifth edition of the Bib Gourmand Benelux guide features 251 restaurants. New entries for Brussels include Auderghem’s Lebanese restaurant Maza’j, Japanese noodle bar Kokuban in Ixelles and the more traditional De Maurice à Olivier, situated in Woluwe St-Lambert. The 2013 Bib Gourmand Benelux guide, which goes on sale on November 8 and acts as a curtain-raiser for the ‘heavyweight’ Michelin guide, features 138 restaurants in Belgium, 105 in the Netherlands and eight in Luxembourg.
