Lost & found website for bicycles
Belgium
12:04 04/10/2012
Pictures of Brussels bicycles missing their rightful owners can be viewed on the website www.velosretrouves.be, two years after a similar initiative was launched in Antwerp. As an advertising stunt, 10 bicycles have been attached to lampposts across Brussels, each equipped with a QR code which, once scanned, redirects to the website. The initiative marks the second phase in the bicycle theft awareness campaign launched in spring. Since June, cyclists can have their bikes engraved free at five locations across the capital; and the website allows people to report bike thefts by filling in information such as the chassis number. Bikes left unclaimed in the warehouse, however, become public property after six months.
