(Closed): Free tour of Forest and Wiels on 17 November with Brussels Greeters

Explore the Brussels municipality of Forest and its contemporary art centre, Wiels, thanks to the latest Visit.brussels Greeters free tour on the afternoon of Sunday 17 November.

The two-hour tour will be followed by a visit of Open Skies, the newest exhibition at Wiels, in which seven international artists explore the themes of transparency, privacy and freedom.

One of the city’s larger communes, sandwiched between Anderlecht, Uccle and Flanders, and sharing a border with Saint-Gilles and Ixelles to the north-east, Forest is home to some magnificent parks and includes Altitude Cent, one of the highest points in the region.

In a 2018 survey of Bulletin readers, Forest residents said they loved the area for its greenery. "It has a suburban feel with all the convenience of urban living," one reader told us. Another said living in Forest is like "living in the countryside while being 10 minutes from Avenue Louise".

And an Australian expat living in the area told us: "Wiels contemporary arts centre has some great events, including lots of gigs with international and experimental acts."

About the free tour

Local residents Julie and Lionel, two Brussels Greeters volunteers, will be our guides during the free two-hour tour. We will email the participants with practical details (meeting points and times).

Since 2010, the Brussels branch of the Global Greeter Network has grown to more than 100 greeters who take visitors on tailored tours of their favourite parts of the city to help them sample everyday Brussels.
