Joel Rabesolo Trio - Madagascar
Joel Rabesolo started learning music on a traditional instrument known as “Kabosy”, and later taught himself how to play the guitar. Joel hails from Madagascar, a country where music is strongly linked to dancing, tradition and a rich cultural diversity. He has collaborated with Linley Marthe as a composer and arranger these last few years. The Joel Rabesolo trio is representative of traditional Malagasy rhythm adapted to a more contemporary style of music. The trio consists of musical virtuoso Ranto Rakotomalala, whose playing of the electric bass adds a bewitching touch of Malagasy groove and imaginative harmony, as well as drummer and percussionist Josaphat Hounnou, whose 12/8 and Katsaha beats are delivered with incredible energy. The trio has performed around the Indian Ocean and at the Yelewa Jazz Festival.
