Joachim Caffonnette Trio - CD release
After spending several years concentrating on his quintet, to the point where it had become one of Brussels’ young scene’s most iconic bands, Joachim Caffonnette met bassist Alex Gilson, who had only just arrived in Brussels. It wasn’t long before the young musicians started performing in trios with different percussionists; in April 2017, as they both greatly enjoyed playing Standards, they decided to go on tour in various Brussels and Moselle Clubs. Alex suggested calling on drummer Jean-Baptiste Pinet, who at the time was based in Paris. It was a match made in heaven: the three young jazzmen understood each other as though by telepathy and shared a common vision of interplay. And so, after these four dates, they decided to renew their tour, with 12 concerts in Belgium, France and Luxembourg, and quickly followed with the recording of an album featuring the pianist’s compositions and a few pop-rock track arrangements. The album was recorded during Autumn 2017 and will be released during the first trimester of 2019.
