Casa to ditch informants’ hotline

11:35 11/10/2012

Interior design chain Casa is to abandon its controversial telephone hotline which allowed employees to inform on colleagues thought to be committing work-related offences, from theft to absenteeism. The management justified the measures on the basis of offences it had seen. The unions, however, criticised the climate of suspicion the hotline had created and have announced that the management has told them it will halt the practice. While not confirming the abandonment of the hotline, Casa admitted to be looking at “alternative methods” with the unions.
