CANCELLED: Brussels Chamber Choir sings Abendlied
THE NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL HAS DECIDED THAT ALL RECREATIONAL, SPORTING AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE, ARE SUSPENDED UNTIL 3 APRIL. TICKETS SOLD WILL BE REIMBURSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
This 28th of March the Brussels Chamber Choir presents an evening of a cappella music centred around Josef Rheinberger’s masterwork ‘Abendlied’. This little gem is written in a style similar to that used in Early Music, but with lush Romantic harmonies, and it sets the tone for the rest of the programme. Spanning 500 years, the BCC’s selection of works ranges from masterworks of European renaissance polyphony by Josquin Des Prez, Cipriano de Rore, Philippe Verdelot, Ludwig Senfl and Thomas Tomkins, passing through Romantic works by Mendelssohn, Stanford or Robert Pearsall, 20th-century works by Debussy and Rautavaara, and finishing with new works by Roland Coryn, Alan Charlton and Sergio Rodríguez.
