Dwump Christmas charity appeal
Here's an opportunity to declutter your house before Christmas while helping some of Brussels' poorest families. Dwump, which moves and dumps stuff around Brussels, has teamed up with Nasci, a charity offering direct help to 400 families in Brussels: clothing mothers and kids, providing baths to children and giving basic care products, supplying beds, cribs and toys. From 14-16 December, donate any unwanted toys, hygiene kits, children's clothes and accessories, bedding and cots - and Dwump will come and pick it up from your house for free. The Canal Zone is rapidly changing, with hundreds of projects big and small. One such small project got a boost by winning the 2018 Bruocsella Prize. The prize of €24,000, is awarded by Promethea, 24 businesses that award the prize annually to projects that contribute to urban renewal in Brussels. The winning project is La Licorne (the unicorn) a joint project of COOP and l’Atelier Marin. The project consists of building a seaworthy replica of Le Grand Vaisseau de Versailles, a 17th century French warship, and then sailing it. Nicolas Joshko president of l'Atelier Marin and Jose Menendez, director of COOP tell us the aims of the project.
