Belgian entrepreneurs set off to charm Turkey
A 350-strong business delegation, led by Prince Philippe, is expected in Turkey today to discuss bilateral agreements. Turkey is an economic partner of Belgium, which is preparing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first wave of Turkish immigration. The Turkish population of Belgium is estimated at 190,000, with the majority having Belgian nationality. There will be a diplomatic aspect to the mission too, with the Syrian crisis on the agenda – a total of 100,000 Syrians currently live in refugee camps, one of which will be visited on Tuesday by the Belgian foreign minister, Didier Reynders. Reynders will meet his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, while Prince Philippe will be entertained by president Abdullah Gül (pictured) and prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
