Bancontact and Mister Cash develop payment app

Paying in Belgian shops using a smartphone should become a reality next year, report Telecompaper and La Libre. The system will be tested in April in collaboration with banks. Bancontact/Mister Cash developed the app which will allow payments for amounts up to €125 via smartphones or tablets and a QR code. App users will be able to make payments in shops or to individuals. During the pilot phase, all transactions will be free. Rates will then be determined for 2014, when the app will be launched for the general public.
