Bach Concert - Chapelle des Minimes
Bach’s February cantata texts often deal with the subject of fear: of losing contact with Jesus, or not having God’s support during our difficulties. Between our two cantatas comes an eloquent double-chorus motet whose authorship is still being debated. Is it by Bach’s father’s cousin Johann Christoph - a musician Bach respected highly - or by the Cantor himself? The experts cannot be sure, so we will let our listeners form their own opinions!
“The cantatas of the Minimes” have been a Brussels institution for 37 years now. Every fourth Sunday of the month, we present the cantatas of J. S. Bach as the Cantor of Leipzig had done in his time. Free admission at 17.00 for a concert of about 45 minutes in the very beautiful church of Saint-Jacques-sur-Coudenberg wherethe faithful audience will regularly come for a great spiritual and cultural moment.
