Bach Concert - Chapelle des MinImes
As the autumn nights grow longer, our November concert… presents two unusual expressions of mourning: Buxtehude¹s lamentation for the death of his father, and his admirer Bach¹s funeral cantata BWV 198 for the Saxon Princess Christiane Eberhardine. We begin with the last of the famous six Brandenburg concertos; the sombre velvet sonority of two violas da gamba dominates all three works. A unique and exceptional event!
“The cantatas of the Minimes” have been a Brussels institution for 37 years now. Every fourth Sunday of the month, we present the cantatas of J. S. Bach as the Cantor of Leipzig had done in his time. Free admission at 17.00 for a concert of about 45 minutes in the very beautiful church of Saint-Jacques-sur-Coudenberg where the faithful audience will regularly come for a great spiritual and cultural moment.
