Arno to play in film about Marvin Gaye

Arno Hintjens (63), the grand old man of the Belgian rock scene, will act in a film about the life of American soul singer Marvin Gaye, he announced via Twitter. Arno met the 'king of soul' in 1981 in his hometown of Ostend, when Gaye lived there for a year. Arno worked as a cook in Hotel Mercury, where the two became friends. What role Arno will play is not yet clear, but the film, to be directed by English film, documentary and music video director Julien Temple, will tell the story of Gaye's life and its dramatic ending at the age of 44.
